 Spanish Wells
Spanish Wells on St. George's Cay is to the west of North Eleuthera. The
Spanish used this island as a safe harbor and source of fresh water in the 17th century during their trips to the New World. Spanish Wells is now known as the lobster capital of the Bahamas. This is a small, quiet island with gentle waters that is reminiscent of a New England fishing village. The local mode of transportation is either bikes or golf carts.
Access is via the North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) and then a taxi to the public dock and a 10 minute 'water taxi' ride to Spanish Wells.
